Watchword – Recession! He says it, although he calls it a “mini-recession”. Please listen and note the relations between the credit crisis in the financial sector, interest rates and public expectations in terms of wages etc. Also, pay attention to the question of “perception” of problems and its affect on real economic behavour. I’d say enjoy – but it’s pretty grim. (Grim means – not rosy. Rosy means – nice, smells like roses)
For another look at the climate change problem, go to:
It’s the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s web-site. There are more websites than this. I subscribe to another one, and as soon as I remember which one it is, I’ll post it!
Don’t get sunburned out there!
It’s not a rosy picture. (Although I remember a Shroders Bank analyst predicted this in late 2006.
If you’d like another not rosy picture – watch Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth”. It’s a powerpoint presentation film about global warming. He does a very good job of presenting the information. We all need to pay attention to this stuff. Less consumption please. Will free-markets drive prices so high that we are forced to consume less? Will this allow us time and economies of scale to develop alternative technologies in time. Do we need a major attitude adjustment? All this and more, 12 hours a week for 20 weeks in the academic year to come! In the meantime – KEEP ON ROCKIN’ IN THE FREE WORLD!
